Meet the delegates of the 16th ACYD

We are excited to introduce the 30 delegates selected to participate in the 16th Australia-China Youth Dialogue (ACYD), taking place in Melbourne and Bendigo from Friday, 23 October to Monday, 26 October 2026.

Under the overarching theme “Seeing through each other’s eyes”, this year’s Dialogue will explore four key areas shaping the bilateral relationship: geopolitics; trade and investment; climate and energy; and health and life sciences. Over four days, delegates from a diverse range of backgrounds will engage in panel discussions, site visits and interactive activities, focused on the pertinent issues facing the Australia-China relationship.

Overarching theme: Seeing through each other’s eyes

“Seeing through each other’s eyes” reflects a focus on deepening our understanding of the perspectives and contexts that shape the Australia-China relationship. It invites delegates to step beyond their own vantage point and consider how issues may be understood from other perspectives, opening up new ways of seeing and a richer appreciation of the diverse parts that make up the bilateral relationship.

Through open conversations and shared experiences across the four days, the theme encourages delegates to approach the Dialogue with curiosity, empathy and a willingness to leave with their perspectives broadened. At its heart is the idea that stronger and more enduring ties are built through a genuine understanding of how others see and experience the world.

What is the ACYD?

The Australia-China Youth Dialogue (ACYD) is the preeminent inter-disciplinary early- to mid-career leaders’ dialogue between Australia and Greater China, with 450 alumni across 15 dialogues. Every year, the ACYD brings together 30 outstanding Australian and Chinese citizens between the ages of 25-40 to participate in a track-II diplomatic Dialogue hosted in either Australia or China.

The ACYD aims to strengthen existing ties and build cooperation to support and deepen understanding of Australia and China; the value of the bilateral relationship and the extensive people-to-people links that exist between the two countries.

ACYD alumni are leaders across a wide range of professions, including public policy, business, the creative industries, academia and entrepreneurship. With their experience and expertise, they are making outstanding contributions to strengthening bilateral communication, connections and collaboration. They lead the future of Australia-China relations.
